Hosanagara is a panchayat town in Shimoga district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is nested in western ghats of India. Recently World Cattle Conference with main emphasis on cow was held in month of April 2007 here. The different uses of cow ( not the meat ) were exhibited. Near Hosanagara there is a mutt named Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt just 6km from Hosanagara Town.


Humcha a pilgrim center Humcha is pilgrim center for Jains which is 54 Kms from Shimoga and 25 Kms . from Thirthahalli . The panchkuta Basati (Jain Temple) of 10th ,11th century, Padmavathi temple and jain Mutt are worth visiting.

Kodachadri a hill station This is a hill station ,4411 feet high above sea level, situated at a distance of 16 Kms. from Nagara. Wherein good road upto the bottom of the hill, and one has to walk about 3 Kms. to reach the top of the hill. There is an inspection Bungalow. From the top of the hill can see the beautiful landscape and sunset

Nagara capital city of Keladi rulers in 1763 Nagara is at a distance of 19Kms. from Hosanagara. This was called "Bendanoor" earlier during the 16th century, this was the last capital city of Keladi rulers in 1763,Hyder Ali captured this area. Shivappanaika palace, fort, Devagana tank ,Neelakenteshwara temple and Gudde Venkataramana Swamy temple are worth to visit
